 Are you motorcycle friendly?

Motorcyclists will require the same services as your usual guests, with a few additional requirements. We hope the following information will help you decide on whether you are motorcycle friendly!

  • Riders may transport their motorcycles in vans or on trailers to save their tyres for the touring aspect of their holiday, or if they are attending a show or event and need event accommodation or just a place to stay overnight en route.
Please let us know if you have adequate parking space for vans, and safe storage for trailers to be left during the day.

  • Facilities that are of great use in self catering guest accommodation (vacation homes, cabins & apartments) are essentially bed linen and towels provided (due to the small amount of luggage space on a motorcycle). Please let us know if towels are replaced daily, and if there is a surcharge for bed linen or any housekeeping charges.

  • In all accommodations, due to the small luggage space on motorcycles, laundry and ironing facilities are essential for any stays over one or two nights.

  • Drying facilities for wet weather gear is much appreciated for those rainy moments! Wet leather suits will require strong coat hangers.

  • Supplying towels, basic toiletries is usually standard, but please state if these are replenished daily or weekly, as it can be a great help to save on luggage space.

  • Luggage usually consists of panniers and tank/saddle bags, these can be quite bulky and may be taken off the bike for general riding, so good storage space for these items will be required.

  • Whilst we don’t encourage on holiday oil changes, it is great to be provided with a bucket of warm soapy water in B&B/Hotel accommodation so that bikes can be cleaned down at the end of a days ride, this is especially important if the bikes are off road bikes.

 Parking facilities

We are all everyday folk, with day jobs and precious little vacation time! Our motorcycles are our pride and joy, and very likely to be our second vehicle and a precious investment. Suitable, safe overnight parking is essential.

  • Private Car Park - parking should be away from the view of the main road. Preferably near reception points or close to rooms. Many motorcyclists will carry security chains and locks to secure their bike overnight, If you have railings or grounded posts to chain bikes to, this would be appreciated, as chaining a motorcycle to something secure offers more piece of mind, than a stand alone locked bike. Some bikes will have a security alarm, and therefore having accessible parking close to rooms and reception points will be beneficial.

  • Garaged Parking - if you are able to offer garaged overnight parking for motorcycles, please let us know how many bikes you can accommodate in one night. Garaged accommodation should be locked overnight.

  • Covered parking - Overnight parking under a porch type fitment, or where motorcycle covers/tarpaulins are provided.

  • CCTV and Security Systems - If you can provide a closed circuit television monitoring, guarded car park or security entrance system, please let us know.

  • Off Road Parking - If you do not have a designated car park, but have other type of Off road parking, please ensure this is away from the view of any access roads.

  • Secure Parking - Secure parking is any motorcycle parking facility which offers more security than a standard private car park, yet is not garaged. Locked gardens and car parks with gates which are locked overnight.

  • Other Types of Parking - We have various establishments within the directory whose parking facilities do not come under the above headings. Please let us know specifically what your overnight parking entails.
