The philosophy of the Bygone Era Bed & Breakfast is about taking time out of your hectic lifestyle, whether you're on holiday or business - sitting back, relaxing and enjoying a slower pace of life within the confines and elegance of a bygone era. You'll be hosted in a home that was built around the beginning of the 1900's and which still retains many of its original architectural features. These include a pillared carved archway in the entrance hall bordered by pressed tin and wood wall panels, magnificent carved wooden mantelpieces and tiled surrounds, ornate pressed tin ceilings and cornices and chandeliers.

Affordable luxury and a touch of elegance are our forte. Bedding has been source with sumptuousness in mind. 1,000 thread count linen along with feather & down pillows and duvets will ease you into a peaceful night's slumber. Our attention to detail will ensure you feel like you're at home.

The house also doubles as a small art gallery and features collections from NZ artists, most of which are for sale. Often the art creates an interesting topic of discussion amongst guests and there's always something interesting and unusual on offer. Situated 8 minutes from the city centre, Bygone Era is located in the semi-rural North East Valley on North Road which used to be the main road in and out of Dunedin before the building of the northern motorway.

The homestead is 3 streets away from the world famous Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world, and close to all Dunedin amenities and a perfect base from which to experience many of the wonders Otago has to offer.

Off-street parking is available to guests and if public transport is your means of transport, a bus stop is located right outside the gate. Facilities available to guests are the three guest rooms, living room, formal dining room and master guest bathroom.

We are committed to ensuring you have an enjoyable stay so if there is anything you need, please ask.
